Council Tax - an idea

We all know that under Labour the Council Tax has doubled, and is particularly unfair on those living on a state pension - so here's my idea. UKIP led councils should pledge to the public that Council Tax rises will be capped at 1/2% less than the annual award given to pensioners each year.

For example, if the state pension this year is increased by 4%, then the Council Tax increase should be no higher than 3 1/2%.

When UKIP gets sufficient support at Westminster, then the whole issue of this tax should be raised. For a start, the Uniform Business Rate should be kept by local councils rather than paid to central government.

In addition, we will start to claw-back the over £2,500,000 taken out of the Council Tax each year to pay for the EU's council in our area, the West Midlands Regional Assembly - to paraphrase the Americans some time ago; no representation - no taxation.

It's time to abolish this EU imposed, un-elected, un-accountable, level of government answeable only to the EU commisars in Brussels.

Reid offer criminals 'Get out of jail free' card

Today’s letter from the Home Secretary, Attorney General and the Lord Chancellor demanding that judges and magistrates go out of their way to keep villains out of prison is another example of how the Government holds the average citizen in contempt.
Gerard Batten MEP, the Justice spokesman of the UK Independence Party said, “What a gift to the criminal classes. It is already hard enough to get sent to jail, and now it becomes almost impossible. They must be laughing at us”.
“The Home office is abandoning the law-abiding to the mercies of petty criminals who now know that they have the freedom to do as they please with little risk of them going to prison. This is a criminal’s charter”
Of course there is a way to deal with prison overcrowding, build more jails. This government has had ten years to get a grip on the situation, yet instead of protecting the public, it has made the situation far, far worse.
“Muggers, burglars, thieves and assorted other criminals now have little fear of being arrested, and in the unlikely event of conviction they have very little prospect of imprisonment. Almost everyone now has personal experience of criminals who, even when convicted have got off near scot free”.
“This government has proved that crime does pay. Perhaps the reason that they are being so soft on crime is that they have their own concerns”.

Please support the West Midlands NO campaign

There's a new petition on 10 Downing Street's site - not by me this time! It's been posted by the West Midlands No Campaign. Their website is http://www.westmidlandsno.org.uk/

You can sign their petition using this link - I have!

The more pressure that's kept on the LibLabCon-pact on regional assemblies - the better.

Petition against regional assemblies

Thanks to everyone who signed the petition against the imposition of regional assemblies on the UK. This is an un-elected, EU imposed, level of government which is taking away power from your local council, both borough and county. You HAVE NO RIGHTS when it comes to their decisions, yet they take over £2,500,000 out of your council tax to pay for it.

The West Midlands Regional Assembly is not answerable to the government, it is the local council arm of the EU, and is answerable only to their EU puppet-masters in Brussels.

The EU has effectively disenfranchised us - they have taken away the power of democracy, the power of 'one person, one vote'.

What do we do after leaving the EU?

I mentioned my membership of UKIP last night to someone, who said 'but what happens when UKIP succeeds and we leave the EU? We'll be on our own!'

'But we won't be on our own' I replied, and outlined the case for EFTA - European Free Trade Area - which is where the UK should have been all along!

For a detailed explanation, and of the advantages EFTA countries have over EU countries, go to the link below:

Immigration - your right to know

400 million EU citizens are at present entitled to come and live in the UK. Nearly 1,000,000 East Europeans have come to live in the UK since May 2005. From 1 January this year the LibLabCon-pact have voted to allow in another 22,000,000 Romanians and 8,000,000 Bulgarians. Now, 300,000 Moldovans are trying to get Romanian passports so they have the right to come to the UK as well!

Only UKIP MEPs voted against the enlargement of the EU.

Isn't it time we called a halt to mass immigration?

Drink driving - here's a thought

In my opinion anyone caught driving a car with more than the legal maximum alcohol level allowed in their bloodstream should face an automatic charge of 'attempted manslaughter to person or persons unknown' and should carry a minimum 1 year imprisonment. Where an injury occurs, the minimum should be 2 years, and where death occurs, a minimum of 5 years.
